KenGen appoints its first ever woman CEO

Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has appointed Rebecca Miano making her the first female CEO of the firm.

The state-owned firm which recorded a net profit of Kshs 9 billion to the year ended June 2017 said that Miano emerged top after beating 90 other applicants to the job.

It further expressed confidence in the 51-year-old lawyer for her wealth of experience and skill having worked with KenGen for close to two decades.

Mrs. Miano served as an acting CEO since last August when Albert Mugo the former CEO left after hitting retirement age.

Miano holds a diploma, graduate and post-graduate law degrees. She is a member of the Law Society of Kenya and Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya.
